Friendly welcome at reception. Stafs on front desk always helpful. Room had no desk (I'm a writer) but it mattered not' smallish but in a just-fine way and all facilities in good working order. Very good breakfast. I've no idea about the price of room as I was staying as guest of a Manchester organisation, but it was an excellent one-night stay in a central location.
Below average hotel for price. The hotel is aesthetically pleasing but functionally misses the mark. Moreover, service is hit and miss. One receptionist was extremely rude and dismissive regarding receipt of corporate payment. Breakfast is continental only, rooms are tiny, there's no desk for working, blackout blinds are ineffective and the shower try is extremely slippery. All in all a terrible hotel for a business stay.
Great location, clean modern rooms and efficient service. All at a competitive room rate
Beautiful hotel value for money extremely clean one of the comfiest beds I've slept in the bar man was so friendly and welcoming will defo be back
I'm a regular at this hotel and it's always a good stay, thank you. I love the design of the rooms - the curtains cross over so there is proper closure - brilliant. Just a couple of niggles this time: the bedside light didn't work (the window side of the bed) and the air conditioning control didn't work, so it just had to be on or off, I couldn't control the temperature. It would have been nice to have some options of camomile or peppermint tea as well as the English breakfast - but that's nitpicking!
It took really long until the soap was replaced in my room, even though I have informed front desk
The shower head was broken as water was spraying out the seal which splashed water everywhere. Room was clean and in good location however wouldn’t stay here more than a couple of nights. Window view was of a brick wall and loading bay. Wifi would work sometimes and not work other times.
Air con sucked. Couldn't sleep as it was roasting
The staff id very friendly, the room is cozy & quiet, and the beds are comfortable
stayed here many times now --its just perfect ,staff are so happy and helpful from the minute you book in
Pros: We found the hotel to be in a good location with lots amenities. Good shops supermarkets, quick bites to eat.. The hotel and clean and staff were friendly. Cons: Our view was looking at another tower, the room was very small and basic. The shower was moderate.
Loved the hotel , Staff where super helpful esp the two men both Scottish who where super helpful and the girl who checked us in and out . Only dissatisfied was the location of the room and there was builders drilling way up to midnight . There was no mention of building works going on and the breakfast was average expected more so wouldn’t book that again . But would stay at this hotel again . Great location , Place was spotless even watching the cleaners clean other rooms they were doing a 10/10 of job .
a great place to stay
Lovely room, gorgeous facilities i highly recommend this hotel again.
First time staying here and won’t be my last! Staff were so friendly and the air con in the room was absolutely fantastic!
Exceptional staff - friendly and helpful Great location Comfortable and clean room Impressive bar and lounge area
Spotlessly clean ; nice cool room! The staff are great as always !
We were a group of eight. All the staff (reception, cleaning staff and bar staff) were very friendly and helpful. We arrived early and planned to leave our baggage and come back later to check in, however we were given access to our rooms immediately as they were ready. This was very much appreciated as it allowed us to freshen up before exploring the city.
Lovely hotel, extremely comfortable bed and fabulous location. Staff helpful and friendly.
The staff were very friendly and quick. They let us to check in earlier. The location is superb, literally in the centre. We did enjoy our time.
Room - No batteries in safe. No bottled water (temp very hot). No telephone in room- thus no easy way to contact reception. Poor view overlooked big time. Breakfast bare minimum you could get away with. Power cut in room left unresolved from midnight to 8am. Found a tel number rang to report on my mobile - o answer left on hold for 10mins - couldn’t get shower as no power or lights - got dressed instead walked down to reception (still with hotel number ringing) - to find reception not busy. I asked why not answering their phone?? Sheepishly said we didn’t see it - it’s basically just a message on their screen (If they choose to look at it!) no audible ringing. Good luck in an emergency in your room!!! What happens if you get locked in your room etc etc hotel totally let down by reception staff….
Excellent service and quality of stay
Great location. comfortable rooms. excellent reception staff
Lovely staff Stay was made very easy Very very clean
Good Location just right beside the mall. Breakfast wasn't that fantastic. Fairly simple breakfast.
Good air con and bed. A bit dirty. Overall fine for the trip I was having.
Well placed clean tidy hotel, very nice would use again. Two minor minuses breakfast very expensive and sinks did not have a plug
Always reliable with a friendly welcome. Great location and great value for money in what is often an expensive city.
JUST PERFECT
I come here weekly for work. My favourite staff are night shift security Mo. Night shift Costel and Nyle. Day shift worker Evie and Georgia. Bar staff Neil. Dislike the hideous dress uniform behind the bar. Looks like my grans curtains from the 80s. Not a great selection of warm snacks. Just the same four boring toasties.
Lovely clean hotel. Pleasant welcoming staff. Can’t fault hotel
The hotel's location was great. Housekeeping did an excellent job with room cleaning. Reception was helpful and reserved a taxi for our departure. Everything went very smoothly. I wish the room had a refrigerator, but we knew ahead of time that it did not.
Room adequate but a bit small. TV didn’t work ( kept freezing)
Excellent place to stay. Good price , especially if booked with the Motel direct. Friendly staff & great location for the city of Manchester
Great hotel
Thought breakfast would of been included in the price.
A good city center hotel for a short stay.
Rooms small Shower really slippy floor - no anti slip mat Poor toiletries - Breakfast - very limited choice. No ‘full English’ option. A lot of money for 1 night based on our experience £188 !
Lovely hotel. Friendly staff. Lovely rooms. Very central Only disappointment was no full English breakfast
Great hotel in a great location
First time staying at Motel One. Had a really enjoyable stay. Will definitely stay again next time we are in Manchester
Only one thing to “complain” about, an small refrigerator in the rooms would be truly great. Staff wonderful, the room was clean, brekfast (key of the day) great full of varity, hotelbar a great place to stop at, and the location of the hotel trylu brilliant. I will come back one day.
I booked the hotel using 'Tesco' vouchers exchanged exclusively for Motel One. I was asked for my credit card as booking confirmation it was me! I requested (at booking) for upper floor room overlooking Cross Street. I was given a ground floor room overlooking a brick wall! When I returned home to Scotland, I was shocked to find I had been charged again on my credit card & then £130 for a cancellation!! My stay cost me nearly £900 - I cannot get a response from Motel one enquiries!! Dreadful !!!
The room was comfortable and clean but a little dated.
Perfect location, clean modern air con worked very well
Excellent city centre, great location for the Theatre and the Arndale
I appreciated the air conditioning in the warm weather. The room was pleasantly cold when I went in after checking in, with the air con being on and set to a low temperature. The only issue I had was with the shower head, which seemed to have a leak where the head was joined to the hose, so the pressure was a bit low.
Friendly staff and simple check in.
Very clean, room change everyday , comfortable, hot shower
Really helpful staff and great facilities.

Location and surroundings
Hotel Manchester Royal Exchange
Our Motel One Manchester-Royal Exchange is designed with a trendy faux-industrial look in memory of Manchester’s golden era when it was known as “Cottonopolis”: all about cotton as a raw material and its processing. The foyer is dominated by six-metre high round steel arches and a wall of printed cloth, as a foretaste of our theme. Furniture by Baxter and hanging lamps by Alturo Alvarez are complemented by details such as spools of thread and spinning machines.
The main eye-catcher is a wall installation entitled "Cottonopolis" by paper artist Andy Singleton, composed entirely of shapes cast by innumerable single threads.
Our affordable hotel is situated right opposite the Royal Exchange Theatre in the very heart of Manchester. The Town Hall, Manchester Cathedral, Manchester Arena and the Manchester Central Convention Complex are within walking distance, and both Victoria and Manchester Piccadilly stations are within easy reach.
Visit us in Manchester and find out about the centre of the cotton trade.

Cool Cotton
Classic British furniture, paper sculptures and more will transport you to "Cottonopolis" - 19th century Manchester.

Cutting Edge
Paper artist Andy Singleton has proven a steady hand for Motel One Manchester-Royal.
