Even the false fire alarm was dealt with quickly, professionally and in a friendly and helpful manner.
Nice and quiet room with all the essentials. Could do with a few more power sockets and a light switch on both sides of the bed.
Good location and have a best room view. Staff are nice and friendly.
Nice place and hand for the train station and the shops plus very quiet at night when in your room if you have a pet with you and very helpful staff to first time people who never stay in a hotel and very friendly staff
Good location and reasonable price. The room we had (300) was pleasant enough and it had a nice bathroom. However, it didn't have much natural light or any kind of view. The main issue was that it was way too warm and the thermostat on the wall didn't seem to do anything.
Very nice and clean hotel. Great location friendly people excellent breakfast
Comfortable room in relaxing hotel with central location. Staff friendly and helpful and continental style breakfast good apart from on the Saturday morning of our stay when the breakfast bar seemed relatively unattended and not restocked, so run out of eggs and some types of bread. Also, and not any fault of the hotel, for four hours on the Thursday and Friday afternoon there was a busker playing on the pavement just outside our window. Inspire of double glazing his awful repertoire of only 3 tunes was unbearable!
Excellent service and had a very enjoyable stay. Bed very comfortable and good standard of cleanliness. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Murphy who works behind the bar looked after us very well and we enjoyed her company.
is there anyway to put in a black out in the room all else was great, but the room was very light during the night..curtains were not efficient
Thank you. From check in to check out everything was perfect.
Rooms were decent and comfortable. Was a bit disappointed with there not being any cooked breakfast on the buffet.
The sink in the room didn't hold water for shaving is the only issue I could note with the stay. My colleague booked this accommodation and have tried to book myself in later in the year but couldn't speak German or find a quick translate button on the page so moved on to find an easier solution as I didn't have the time to waste. That may be an area to highlight if you feel you are losing customers at that stage in the process from other feedback. Best wishes.
Excellent place to stay, as always. Staff very helpful and attentive. Rooms beginning to show signs of wear.
We have stayed at several other Motel One hotels in the past so I specifically looked for a Motel One hotel in Edinburgh. It lived up to my expectations with its value for money, excellent staff & fab decor giving it a great vibe!
Friendly staff, clean room, comfortable bed & pillows & an excellent location. What more could you ask for?
Clean . Friendly helpful staff. Great location. Improvements hand rail in shower and liner in bin essentials. Snack in room desirable. Thanks.
clean environment, all staff lovely and friendly.
Nice stay. Room was very warm though, and air conditioning changes didn't help much. Wasn't overly keen to have been given an accessible room either, and would prefer not to have it in future stays. That wasn't necessary.
Excellent stay, location is great. Receptionist are nice and approachable.
The good: Comfortable, very friendly staff, super central location, and nice decoration. Clean. Nice lounge. Check in and check out was nice and fast. The not so good: Hugely overpriced breakfast (either add hot meals like bacon, beans etc., or reduce the price, because paying £14 for what is basically some rolls, cereals and cheese is ridiculous). No aircon in the rooms. No shampoo/conditioner in the bathroom. No bath robes. Communication ahead of the stay was non-existent and we were worried that the booking may not have gone through. We only received 1 initial 'booking received' email when booking a few months ago, which was also entirely in German. Please ensure that the first language used is in the language of the country the hotel is in, and better comms ahead of the stay would be great. Otherwise, great hotel!! Still a 8 overall, but improving the above points would elevate it hugely.
Good location, the hotel is ok. Really central. Nice room overall. In the room something could be improved like adding a small wardrobe , mini fridge and a safe locker.
Warm welcome, excellent location, clean room.
Clean and convenient; lovely staff. No surprises.
Accessible room worked very well for our needs. Staff were very attentive.
Well priced and nice room. Staff friendly and helpful. Great location. An iron and ironing board in the room would have been helpful
Lovely stay, very clean, staff were friendly, bed was super comfy and we couldn’t have been more central! WiFi was a little on and off but that’s being fussy! Highly recommend this hotel.
Ideal location
Always enjoy our stay there staff very nice
Great location, clean room, plenty of space, excellent staff.
Excellent location walking distance to major attractions, shops and bars. Clean comfortable room and very friendly staff! Maybe a small fridge in the room would be useful! Overall, we loved our stay at Motel One Edinburgh Princes!
An excellent hotel all round . It’s located in the very centre and has Good clean rooms, very quiet and comfortable. The staff are great. My partner discovered she had lost her ring whilst out exploring the town and asked at the reception on the off chance it had been found. Luckily a member of staff had found it and handed it in, showing good integrity. I would highly recommend this hotel. I will be returning in the summer.
Cozy room, with a beautiful view The staff was very kind
Fantastic location and a great hotel. Nothing to critise, staff exceptional.
I love the location on Edinburgh’s Princess Street. The beds are really comfortable, the room is a nice place to be and very clean. The showers are also really good. The only thing I would like added is a small fridge to be to store milk and other drinks during stays of more than a few days.
Great room for the cost as always. Everything was clean and working as you would expect. Very happy
Very modern hotel in a great location.
Staff were extremely helpful and friendly when we first arrived, going above and beyond. Location was amazing. We did not have breakfast during our stay and were unsure if the bar was open in the evenings. Overall, room was very nice and we really enjoyed our stay.
Great location. Clean and tidy. Friendly staff.
The location is superb you have views of the castle and princess street gardens from the lounge. The staff were very friendly and hospitable. It was very clean, and the standard expected from this type of hotel. I was impressed by how quiet it was inside the room given the location. Good value for money.
Great location, opposite Waverley Station, next to St James and close to Playhouse Theatre. Lovely staff, clean rooms and a nice comfy lounge for drinks overlooking Princes Street
Lovely hotel & very friendly staff Comfortable nights sleep in very comfortable bed
Perfect location Hayley on reception was fantastic. Rooms bright and clean. Cleaning staff came every day they were very kind and helpful. Great value for money.
Clean, comfortable hotel and room. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Fantastic hotel! Clean, great location, friendly staff. The breakfast was varied and delicious and check in/check out was made easy. Nothing but good things to say.
Excellent hotel,. Helpful, friendly staff, very clean, spacious room, great location. Loved the bar area
Fabulous hotel and staff. Great room. Delicious cocktails. Welcoming and accomodating.
Lovely clean modern hotel in a unbeatable area will definitely be back
Motel One Edinburgh is a lovely, clean & modern hotel. It's location is perfect on Princes st, at St James Quarter and is near most places. Our room was nice & clean, but we felt it needed a bin and mirror in living area, as there was only one in bathroom. Our heating/air con wasn't working and was warm at night, so we had to open the windows, which was very noisy and affected my sleep, as I'm a light sleeper. We still had a great stay and would stay again.
Great location between the old and new town. Breakfast was not included but they gave us vouchers for it each day of our stay due to us being charged twice by them in error for a room upgrade. Breakfast was continental with limited choice and some items e.g. hummus was there for the 4 mornings, without being replaced. The standard room they had given us looked out on a big white wall, which was not nice, so we paid extra for a room in the front with a nice view. The room and bathroom were fine but small. There were no bedside lockers to put your phone, water, etc on, which is very strange and paper cubs, instead of glasses, were supplied. Bar was okay. Staff were friendly.
Location was great, staff were friendly and really helpful the only negative thing was the room being extremely warm and needing a fan on at all times

At home with Scotland’s sovereigns
Being the capital of Scotland, Edinburgh naturally has a long history with royal personages. In our Motel One Edinburgh-Princes we’ve cannily picked up on Scotland's royalty-related motifs, welcoming visitors with illustrious design combining antique candelabras and opulent velvet sofas. From the booths of the second-floor bar, there are majestic views onto the famed Princes Street and Edinburgh's history, while in our One Lounge, you can start the day in imperious fashion with a healthy breakfast, and relax later on in the company of royal portraits.
And the area around this Design Hotel at Waverley Station is well worth exploring, with the National Gallery of Scotland, Carlton Hill and Edinburgh Castle just a short stroll away. If you’re travelling on business, our design hotel is just as handy for Edinburgh International Conference Centre and the airport.
