Pretty gaudí!

Barcelona - what a city! On one side the sea beckons, on the other the Tibidabo towers. And with an average temperature of 15 degrees, it's especially good to discover on foot, even in the winter months. This walk is a little more strenuous because of the incline, but it's definitely worth it. Maybe it's the water or the food - or the breathtaking architecture by Antoni Gaudí. Or maybe it's all of the above. One thing is certain: a walk through Barcelona remains unforgettable.

We start at the Parc de la Ciutadella, which is right next to our Motel One Barcelona-Ciutadella. The walk takes us past the Arc de Triomf, along the city's most famous street, La Rambla, which is a great place for shopping and strolling, to Casa Milà, whose architecture was inspired by tree trunks and elephants and which is just one of Gaudí's many buildings along the route.

The closest of the famous architect's buildings is the Sagrada Família, the city's landmark. Even if you spent a whole day here, you probably wouldn't be able to grasp all the details of the architecture. Only at second glance can you discover subtleties such as the natural structures of leaves and honeycombs on the façade.

The next stop on this route is Park Güell, which immediately fascinates with its amazing and enchanting entrance. The building is very reminiscent of a gingerbread house and is unique - just like the rest of the park, which was designed by Gaudí on commission from Eusebi Güell around 1900.

A final tip: drink enough on your walk, because the hot Spanish sun can easily make you sweat.
