Motel One Leipzig-Post has moved into the historic, listed walls of the old main post office building located right next to Augustusplatz. But not only us: under the motto "The Living House" the 110-meter-long ensemble has been refurbished with meeting rooms, a restaurand and a gym.
In accordance we tried our best to keep the former purpose and flair of the old post alive. Therefore the whole postal theme - before and after the digital revolution - is omnipresent throughout our interior design. Experience plenty of space for communication, exchange, art and one or two Gin Tonic in lofty heights.
Experiencing Communication
Upon entering the hotel, guests are greeted by an oversized stamp, an artwork by the artist Paule Hammer. His collage on canvas "Geträumte Weltkarte" (Map of a Dream Wordl) expertly combines painting, narrative text and individual motifs that have been used on stamps all over the world.
Best place to lounge and contemplate the colourful scenery: the equally colourful selection of furniture by Moroso. And naturally this is also the place for our guests to adress any questions and issue at our reception, which - in keeping with the building's history - appears in the shape of an envelope, including an oversized post stamp.
Hello Yellow!
On the seventh floor the wallpaper design illustrates the rapid development of the postal service in Germany. Look around: everywhere postal-related symbols like the colour yellow or the post horn have been cleverly incorporated into the interior. Even the ´Beetle´dining chair by Gubi is dressed in post office yellow, which is also known as 'Broom Yellow'.
An essential postal part that mustn't be forgotten? Yes, a stamp collector's album! The opposing wall features oversized stamps that were freely designed by graduates of the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig and which illustrate the city's traditions like the local dish 'Leipziger Allerlei' and more.
Airmail Vibes
Feel like on cloud nine - on the 8th floor in our Cloud One Bar, surrounded by Leipzig's unique skyline.
Not only the airmail-design wallpaper made especially for Motel One but also our heavenly soft designer furnishings by Moroso and Baxter make for an elevated atmosphere. And of course our wide selection of Gins & Co. in our "mix it yourself" bar will do their share to keep you in high spirits.
In order to combine the old with the new, the digital binary codes on our LED wall behind the bar represent a more modern way of transmitting information.
