Crystal Clear Connections

In our Motel One Munich-Sendlinger Tor designer Roos Kalff is building bridges between past and present by combining vintage pieces and modern functionality.

Sleep like royalty in Bavarian splendour

The Sendlinger Tor city gate is a rare vestige of Munich’s old fortifications, and marks the southern extremity of the city’s historic Isar-side old town. In designing the Motel One Munich-Sendlinger Tor, we’ve taken inspiration from the lavish palaces dreamt up by Ludwig II. This One Lounge is a refuge merging the baroque with the modern: a throne-like velvet sofa by Creazioni and ceramic table legs by Studio Kalff, for example, hark back to the pomp of Ludwig’s era without neglecting contemporary design. A dramatic mural of Neuschwanstein and a playfully monarchial ambiance make for a great backdrop for a healthy organic breakfast and a great start to your day.

Staying at the Motel One Munich-Sendlinger Tor, you're adjacent to the very centre of town, perfectly situated for a stroll round the very heart of Munich. Just a few hundred metres from the hotel are the Marienplatz and Town Hall at one end of Kaufingerstraße, while a few blocks further on are other must-sees like the Viktualienmarkt, Frauenkirche and Hofbräuhaus. Munich central station with its direct connection to Munich airport is only slightly further off. The Sendlinger Tor underground station is just round the corner from the hotel, so trade fair visitors can take the U2 line straight to the exhibition centre. And if you want to visit the source of our inspiration, the nineteenth-century palace is only a day trip away.
