Wonderful experience in this hotel. Quick access to the room and welcoming staff. We will recommend.
Staff are brilliant
The hotel is ok but well placed . A couple if the staff on reception were great but bar service was poor with most staff not really interested
Fantastic location staff cleanliness bedroom and bathroom facilities Everything perfect
Televisions need resetting to show more English channels
Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff. Extremely clean hotel and beautiful decor.
The welcome is always warm and the hotel and rooms are spotless..great value for money, the hotel is cental for everything. We wouldn't stay anywhere else as everything you need is there.
Nice hotel in a prefect location.
Perfect location for exploring Manchester. Large comfy bed, quiet rooms and great staff especially Ginevra, who was very helpful.
Greta stay - Ginervia was especially helpful on reception. Air con did break half way night 1/2 and it was very warm! Breakfast was amazing :) Thank you
Good service, staff friendly and room clean, I would stay here again in the future
My stay was very pleasant, the room was very nice and had everything I needed for one night including a comfortable bed and a roomy shower room. Would have been a 10 out of 10, but unfortunately you can’t control who stays and whether or not they are respectful to other other guests staying.
Clean - good - all was well until teh fire evacuation, where I discovered that the back fire exit door was blocked from the outside on the stree by a temporaru street sign. I had to struggle to get out of the fire exit. This is illegal and dangerous and I reported it to Reception. One day later and the door was still blocked. For this the hotel lost points - I did not feel safe.
very pleasant stay once again, was able to leave our bags off early that morning and come back around 6pm to check in and get our room. was also spotless as expected. thanks again and see you all in the new year.
Staff warm and welcoming on check in. Great location, modern clean rooms
The staff are very friendly and helpful. Very clean hotel with a great location.
Staff was wonderful. Room was very comfortable and quiet.
Excellent location in city centre. Quiet and omfortable room and excellent facilities. Lovely reception staff
Great location
When first walking in everything was good, however the room was small very simple it didn’t look amazing could hardly move. The toilet was squeaky so every time you moved it made a sound. The tv hardly worked only certain channels was working. We was overlooking another building which didn’t look nice so we had the curtains drawn for the stay. The bed was comfy however the pillows could’ve been better. The air con didn’t really work. It was boiling in the room so air con working would’ve been good. The price for one night was not worth it. Was far too expensive just for one night. It was placed good as there was shops near by. You could keep your luggage at the hotel until you was ready to leave which was good. Also the WiFi did not work for me and the signal was rubbish. I would not stay here again. We booked this hotel as it was last minute not worth the amount we paid.
Was a nice hotel but has some issues, with the shower not working very well, lifts taking an age.
Fantastic hotel chain ...Always friendly and clean. Beds and bedding are divine. Just wished we could have got the TV and the Air conditioning to work as it was so warm 🥵. Other than that great stay.
Motel One have never let me down! I have have stayed in Berlin, Leipzig and Vienna as well as London and Manchester. My only gripe on this occasion is that we couldn't turn the air conditioning up beyond 19 degrees. I hate a cold room!!
Nice hotel with a great ambience
Nice clean, well organised hotel. The room is fine and the breakfast is adequate (doesn't have a cooked breakfast option, but still have nice battery options and savory bits and pieces as well as cereal/fruit). Have stayed maybe 8 times with work, never any problems.
Value for money was poor. - Television didn’t work with no service - Room was tiny and not adequate for 2 people - View / Window was of a back alley with a homeless man sleeping on some stairs, never felt comfortable opening the curtains - Didn’t have a bin in our room for our rubbish - Staff with careless and Un-Empathetic with our situation and how much we paid Overall, a very poor experience, only good thing was the location.
This is the third time we stayed here as we like the hotel. The pillows were a problem again I found as you get one very flat one & one sausage type one which don't work together so you don't get a great night's sleep to be honest. The problem with our stay this time was that the TV wasn't working & had no signal. I went to reception to mention it & was basically fobbed off saying 'oh it'll come back on, they're all not working'. It never did & if it is the case that the whole building had no signal then why weren't guests told when you checked in? I know it's a budget hotel, but you're paying over £100 so you'd expect at least a working TV in the room. Other than that we like the hotel & it's location.
Great location, comfortable room and perfectly adequate for my stay. My only negative is that when I opened the window (I always like an open window to sleep), all I could smell was greasy food coming from a extract duct in the building opposite the window. I immediately closed the window but once the smell got in the room, that's all I could smell. Other than that, a great experience. Reception team very friendly and made me feel welcome.
Is is our third stay at this location - in the past was a good experience this time was disappointing. The bar and front lobby was under renovation which was disappointing, the first room we were given had a terrible view - we switched for one on the top floor which was better but still not the street view we requested.
Not up to your normal service On arrival at -14:45 there were numerous people standing and sitting around waiting to check in which I thought strange but when I went to counter I was told rooms won’t be ready until 15:00. So now you had probably 100 people standing waiting to check in and increasing by the minute with 3 staff standing there doing nothing apart from looking at the obvious more than my jobs worth manager. Until a group of foreigners come in and the manager signed them all in. Right in front of all us patiently waiting customers. I’ve been using motel one for years and never had such treatment before.
Gorgeous hotel, well located. Room was small but that was fine for one night.
It was a lovely stay. My room was very clean and I really like the little coffee and tea. Location was perfect for my visit. We will definitely return.
Great as usual. I get the whole dynamic pricing thing but more than double the usual price was a lot. A bit disappointed to find the bar closed with work going on but not a big deal. Everything else was as expected.
Stayed for one night and the room was fine overall. Only complaint I had was when I got into my room the bathroom had been left half cleaned. The toilet brush was in the toilet and the shower drain parts were all dismantled and half cleaned in the bathroom sink along with the soaps.
Reception / bar staff were great - welcoming, approachable and friendly. 10 out of 10 for them. The room was clean (as you would hope / expect) but it was opposite 3 lifts so I heard everyone who used them through the night. It was also next to a tramline / road so I heard every tram and was also woken by the noise of the recycling lorry. Worst nights sleep I have ever had in a hotel and so won't be rushing back. If you are going to build hotels in city centres, you need to soundproof the rooms.
Clean, central and staff all very helpful
No complain from me. Good sized room with a comfortable bed. Great location. Great facilities. Perfect for my needs.
Fantastic central Manchester hotel , small adequate rooms, very friendly staff .
Excellent customer service, extremely clean and excellent location in the city.
Thuis is the second time we've stayed in the hotel. Great location and exceptionally clean. Great reception very friendly and informative.
Fabulous hotel, a real find! Great location, room really Will be back!
Amazing place friendly staff awesome location!
We always stay here when visiting Manchester, the location is perfect, there is a lovely bar area (with good wine!) the rooms are tidy, clean and really comfortable beds. The staff are an asset to the hotel they are always super friendly and helpful!
Staff very friendly and helpful.Easy to check in and out.Roo clean and tidy
The Hotel was nice, very clean, with very friendly staff. I had a comfortable and cozy bedroom. I was disappointed to see that there were no windows that could be opened, the only way to cool the room down was by using air conditioning and there was no way to bring fresh air into the room which is quite an unpleasant thought. One thing that I thought was bad is that I payed an extra £20 or £30 for a City View room and then found out I was only on the second floor. I feel like it is a pit of a push to call this a "city view", as it’s just an average height room looking onto the street. The pictures of the "city view" rooms on the website boasted a great view from rooms on the top floors, so I was expecting more considering the extra price. For this I felt ripped off. Still, the view of the street was better than to the building rear. The room had a nice premium feel compared to a lot of the cheaper hotels that I have stayed and is pretty close to public transport links, the shower was great and the bed too was comfortable. Finally, making amendments to my booking was very easy and at no cost. I originally booked for two nights and changed it to one. Overall happy with my stay but the "city view" was a rip off that I wish could be refunded.
I Stay here quite a bit but I thought you should know that this time the room didn’t seem to have been checked off properly. I found the plug in the shower was dismantled and not in place, the sink plug was still out, there was a toilet brush in the toilet and the soaps were missing their caps. Thought you would like to know that’s all, I have pictures if you want
Nice room but quite cold , there is no way to increase heating . Helpful, friendly reception staff .
Location spot on, rooms clean but adequate, price very good. Our night stay was spoilt by guests keeping us awake by shouting through the night. May reconsider next time in Manchester.
Nice hotel and good value for money. We will return. Special thank you to the receptionist who checked us in.

Location and surroundings
Your Motel One with industrial chic
Our Motel One Manchester-Royal Exchange is designed with a trendy faux-industrial look in memory of Manchester’s golden era when it was known as “Cottonopolis”: all about cotton as a raw material and its processing. The foyer is dominated by six-metre high round steel arches and a wall of printed cloth, as a foretaste of our theme. Furniture by Baxter and hanging lamps by Alturo Alvarez are complemented by details such as spools of thread and spinning machines.
The main eye-catcher is a wall installation entitled "Cottonopolis" by paper artist Andy Singleton, composed entirely of shapes cast by innumerable single threads.
Our affordable hotel is situated right opposite the Royal Exchange Theatre in the very heart of Manchester. The Town Hall, Manchester Cathedral, Manchester Arena and the Manchester Central Convention Complex are within walking distance, and both Victoria and Manchester Piccadilly stations are within easy reach.
Visit us in Manchester and find out about the centre of the cotton trade.
Cool Cotton
Classic British furniture, paper sculptures and more will transport you to "Cottonopolis" - 19th century Manchester.
Cutting Edge
Paper artist Andy Singleton has proven a steady hand for Motel One Manchester-Royal.
