Always a pleasure to stay there so friendly staff very clean, perfect location 🙏🙏🙏
We prefer a double duvet in a double bed. In out room Theresa where 2 single duvets provided.
The Hotel like most Motel Ones is in the right place and has a really nice vibe. The rooms were to the usual Motel One standard which is part of the reason we use them so much and the bar had a really nice vibe. My only issue was the toilets in the bar/breakfast area were in need of a refurb. They are run down and don't smell great. My partner tells me the ladies are the same.
Disapointed at the size of the rooms expected greater value for money, no kettle or coffee/ tea making facilities, no bath, Whilst hotel reception looks very nice it is too busy and not large enough to hold guests during breakfast. We paid for breakfast and both mornings during our stay we were told we would have to come back later due to the first come first serve policy. when we went back on day 1 we were disappointed by the lack of hot breakfast food. t
Very busy hotel but efficient and fast check in, we arrived a bit early and on the off chance we booked in and were surprised and pleased our room was ready around 1pm, this gave us a perfect opertunity to get our stuff to the room and go explore cologne centre which is just a short walk from the hotel which is very well placed. The rooms were well presented and very clean and were well insulated as we heard very little comings and goings from the corridor. The bar and lounge area was very comfortable and the bar staff all verry efficient and friendly. Finally the breakfast area was busy as expected but what a superb breakfast buffet which was constantly replenished and even with a full clientelle there was no real waiting for anything and the coffee machines of which there were plenty produced excellent coffee. I feel this hotel has spoiled us with it's high standards and I'd certainly look for a motel one first on my list when visiting other cities. We are already talking about a repeat visit next year for the Christmas markets. We stayed 5 nights. One thing to highlight was the parking below the hotel (which is public and does not belong to the hotel so not in there control) it was clean and secure and we didn't move the car for the 5 nights/6 days we were there but it was an expensive stay at 165 euros, so make sure you budget for it.
Friendly efficient desk staff. Bar staff less friendly. Clean and comfortable rooms. Cleaning staff efficient and helpful. Lobby and lounge area is comfortable and pleasing to look at.
A beautiful hotel. Spotlessly clean, well located, well designed, well run. Motel One is our preferred hotel chain.
Wonderful hotel! Great location and friendly staff.
Nice, clean hotel on a great location close to the city center. Standard rooms are a bit small but in good shape and the bed is good.
Great location, clean room - simple yet has everything that we needed. Great vibe in the lounge - always had people there. Have to pay extra for bottled water, but this was not a big deal. Staff were friendly and informative.
The bedroom was fine (a bit small with a suitcase), but it had a good bed and the bathroom was clean and had everything. The TV had a lot of programs from different countries. The Hotel bar was excellent and wwas late open
Very close to the city center, clean and functional smal rooms, breakfast with vegetarian and organic food
Good overall for a short stay. TV didn’t work in the room; bar area good in the evening but gets very busy and seem short of staff with just two people waiting all the tables. Service functional
Have stayed in Motel One Neumarkt a few times before and it’s always a pleasure to stay there. Check in was smooth, hassle free and the receptionist was very courteous to my needs. Room on the 6th floor was an assessibility room which was bigger than the normal rooms. Spacious bathroom / walk in shower and a king size bed for the perfect sleep. The only downside is the expensive breakfast.
This was my first time staying at any Motel One property and I was very pleased. The staff at Motel One Neumarkt were friendly, professional and efficient. The lobby was comfortable and nicely decorated. It had a lively atmosphere. The room (especially the bathroom) was very clean and light and bright. The bed was very comfortable and I appreciated the fact that the window opened. Storage is a little bit limited but it is fine for a stay of one or two nights. The paint on the walls was a little bit dirty/ damaged but nothing major. Overall I was very pleased with my stay and will happily stay with Motel One Neumarkt again.
The staff were quite rude at times and quite unwelcoming. On arriving, the lady on reception couldn’t even raise a smile to welcome us. 2 nights the bar staff refused snacks and said only crisps or nuts because they felt they were too busy, when I challenged them because I’d seen them bring a toastie out to another lady and they back tracked, offered to make one!! We have stayed at a few Motel One’s around Europe and this was the worst. A positive was the location of the hotel.
The housekeeping staff were amazing on the 4th floor, approachable and helpful, found me an iron and ironing board and looked after me. I was expecting this to be tough but they both made it easy and smiled the whole way through. Top Marks from me.
Alles Top 👍
Alles TOP !
Wie immer "the place to be" in Cologne.
Alles gut
War Alles okay
I found the lobby area a little too dark in the morning and evening times . I found the mattress very hard also. You felt like you slept on top on the bed and not in the bed . The breakfast wasn't a large choice but it was nice. When I was checking out at 7am the lady at reception desk didn't say anything . Just took the card. No thank you for the stay, no goodbye, . Nothing to leave a good end to the stay. Thanks Robert
Alles ok
Nice interiors, quiet, clean and consistent with other Motel Ones in other cities.
I stay here every year since it opened! Grate place!
Lovely hotel in a great area to get around. Friendly staff. Spotlessly clean. Couldn't fault it. Only gripe no coffee/tea making facilities.
An excellent experience. Location is ideal, very close to public transport. We had breakfast on our first morning and was met with a great selection. Pillows and bed are comfortable and shower is very nice.
Alles top!!
My favorite hotel in Cologne. Cozy yet spacious. Location is fantastic. Lovely people. Many thanks to Alexa.
A bigger selection of vegan food would be great. For example the pastry could be made vegan without any compromise and without the need for two different versions. This way everyone benefits.
Always a great stay experience at Motel One - chic rooms, great bar, friendly staff
Feel Like @ Home
Great, as always 👍
Motel One is my favorite hotel
Alles prima!
Could be a cleaner. Reception area (counter and sitting areas) wasn’t clean. I thought it was cause the reception was crowded with check in guests but even the next day it was unclean. I ordered coffee from the bar (friendly staff) and took up to my room. The next day the room was cleaned but dirty cup, spoon, saucer and sugar packages were left in the room. Love to stay at motel one in every city and usually do stay at mediapark when I am in Köln. It was fully booked and that is why I ended up at Neumarkt. I would recommend motel one but not this location
Amazing location with a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Staff were great service was second to none. Lovely room with great view. Have stayed in several Motel One hotels in various countries/cities the standard is carried on throughout the company among, will use again and highly recommend.
The third time I have stayed in a Motel One and it was another excellent experience.
Loved Mote One in an awesome spot , handy to the trams, great breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the lounge is a lovely spot to have drinks in the afternoon
Great hotel, bar, rooms. Good location. Good carpark discount. No water offered at check-in. Free breakfast (I started using app) was a challenge to get activated - and was for our NEXT stay, not the stay we booked (not clear on the free breakfast confirmation).
Was very nice, I came there often the only problem was that the people who came to make clean the room they disturb me very early like 9 o clock, and I wanted to sleep more..
Clean, quite although in the middle of the center, great breakfast with a lot of bio certificated products
We stayed for 4 Nights. Staff very friendly and welcoming. There's a big lobby area. With separate bar area which 24 hours. Separate breakfast area too. Drinks are reasonable price. The breakfast was very basic. Our room was very nice. Clean. Abit tight tho. But we managed. Nice bathroom. Big shower. The bed was a bit hard but that suits me and the pillows were soft and hard so you had a choice. We would definitely stay again. The location was perfect. Pub next door with German food and beer. Kebab over the road. Burger king around the corner. And little kiosks for general needs. Tram links are good. And Uber is very quick and not to expensive either. Will be back soon.
I always stay at Motel One-Neumarkt in Köln. I love the hotel, management, staff, housekeeping, servers, the rooms, the lounge, and breakfasts. Excellent customer service begins at the top and Matthias has done an outstanding job ensuring customers have an excellent experience. I am looking forward to my next visit, soon! Keep up the wonderful work.
It might be time that your rooms are getting a slight renovation because in our room there was a damage on the wall which could have been easy fixed. We had to wait quite long for our room to be ready and got at the end a different one than what we had booked
War alles ok
it was quite expensive during this week. For the rest all okay!
Quiet and a bit small
A great hotel model, providing just what you want and delivering that very well. Excellent location for shopping & transport, all right on the doorstep.

A TOUR AROUND THE CATHEDRAL
Cologne Cathedral is the city’s pièce de résistance – but it’s worth checking out the surroundings as well.
Dropped Cone
Just in front of the hotel, the world’s most expensive ice cream cone adorns the top of the Neumarkt Galerie shopping centre. This ‘cool’, 3-tonne, EUR 1.5 million artwork was created by pop artist Claes Oldenburg and shipped from San Francisco to Cologne. A perfect photo opportunity!
The Cathedral’s peak
You don’t need to climb to the top of Cologne Cathedral to get an up-close look at the structure’s impressive stonemasonry. There is also a life-size model of the finial that caps the building directly in front of the main entrance.
Heinzelmännchenbrunnen
The legend of the Heinzelmännchen is as entrenched in Cologne’s culture as the local ‘Kölsch’ dialect. Built in 1987 and situated across from Früh – the city's oldest brewery – the fountain references a poem by August Kopisch about the hardworking familiars that accompany the city’s residents.
Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium
There is evidence of Cologne’s rich Roman history everywhere. Right next to the cathedral, you can take a detour to the old northern gate of the city, the excavated Hafenstrasse or the Roman Tower, a corner tower of the former city wall.
A TOUR OF WORLD CUISINE
Cologne’s culinary scene has something to suit every taste. Here is just a small selection:
Bay Area Burrito Company
San Francisco-style burritos, tacos and quesadillas that can be customised at will
La Bodega Tapas Bar
Original Spanish tapas – warm or cold, paella and more. Enjoy a taste of Spain on the Rhine
1980 Cafe & Bánh Mì
Speciality coffee drinks, cake and classic Vietnamese cuisine in one spot? Try it for yourself!
Donburi Style
Japanese bowls for a healthy bite during your shopping spree.
Bäckerei Balkhausen
Allegedly the best bakery in Cologne, this shop offers the historical Adenauer Brot, which was developed by Cologne’s former Vice-Mayor and later Chancellor of West Germany.
A TOUR OF THE RHINE
A walk with a view
Head from our Motel One on Neumarkt into the old town to the Heumarkt. After crossing the Deutz Suspension Bridge, you can stroll south along Deutzer Werft towards Poll. Then head across the Deutz swing bridge past the Poll meadows and Deutz harbour to the South Bridge, which offers a stunning view of the Cologne skyline. Once you’ve crossed the Rhine, you can head to the Rheinauhafen and take a stop in one of the many cafés and bars, then go past the distinctive cranes and Chocolate Museum back to Heumarkt.
If you like, you can extend the route by continuing further along the Rhine from Heumarkt towards the Hohenzollern Bridge. Cross the river one more time and take a short walk through the Rheinpark before heading back into the city centre via the Zoobrücke bridge.
(6 km / 11 km with detour through the Rheinpark)

The Motel One Cologne-Neumarkt combines heavenly design with urban attitude...
There’s more to Cologne than its cathedral
Our Neumarkt hotel in Cologne is located right beside the city’s former cattle market, which was founded in 1076. It’s not so much the cows, horses and chickens that get shoppers' hearts racing these days – but rather the fashion boutiques and department stores. The Schildergasse, Cologne’s most popular shopping street, is right on the doorstep of our design hotel in Cologne. The street will take you to the heart of the city centre in a matter of minutes, where you can explore the historical town hall, the Museum of Applied Arts, the Hohenzollernbrücke bridge or the Rhine – or perhaps one of the many Kölsch breweries, which offer the ideal refreshment to complement your day in the city. Medieval alleyways lead you from our affordable hotel to the defining symbol of the city: the Cologne Cathedral.
The interior of our Cologne-Neumarkt hotel is also inspired by the city’s most imposing landmark, which is one of Germany’s most popular visitor attractions and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its influence is expressed in the form of colourful glass mosaics in the bar area, which are reminiscent of the artistic windows of the cathedral, and continues with transparent room dividers inspired by the cathedral’s Gothic arches. Wall installations transport you straight into the heart of the nave, while slate and marble details echo the basic stone structure of the popular landmark that has withstood centuries. Our Motel One Cologne-Neumarkt pays loving tribute to Cologne’s flagship monument – and is (almost) as impressive as the original!
